Suffered some ITB stuff over winter, and had to completely reconsider my form and strengthen my hips to solve the problem ultimately. foam rollers, icing, massage was good for acute pain, but better form helps prevent the inflammation altogether. Mileage may vary. Cheers!

Hey Tom! Was thinking about you the other day and wondering how the knee was doing. Are you running RnR Philly?

Thanks Rosanne. I've been a mess! My foot ... then right ITB ... and NOW it's the left ITB. I guess doing 4 or 5 marathons in a year isn't such a great idea eh? LOL ... Yes I'll be at RnR Philly next weekend. I'm using it as a training run at this point and keeping my healing focus on NYC marathon Nov. 7th. which will be my last full marathon for a while! Hope to see you out there next week!

Hopefully you'll be feeling better by NYC! I'll be there next weekend but not really feeling it lately. Completely lost my mojo after my marathon in the spring. Debating between trying for a PR versus taking it slower and enjoying a run with the hubs. I have a feeling I'll be deciding in the starting corral. Have a great race if I don't talk to you.

I had ITB problems for two months and only finally got relief by taking a month to adjust my running form, strengthen my core and hips, doing all the other usual stretches, and wearing an ITB strap while running while I adjusted my form to put less stress in the ITB. My ITBS felt like an ice pick stabbing my knee with every step.

Thanks everyone. Yeah my right ITB was the issue before ... did graston technique and active release while lowering miles and it healed ... but switched to my left. I've been crazy busy but I need to work trips to the docs back in so I can run NYC without pain!

@Stephanie. Today will be my third treatment. I also stretch and do foam roller at home between sessions. I'm feeling better here and there but I think it's going to be a while till I'm totally pain free. At least it's manageable. Good luck!
