injured Crazy Long Run 4.21 mi 00:45 10:45 pace

Let me start by saying, I have NEVER experienced pain like this before! The beginning of my run felt really good, then about half-way through my run i had TERRIBLE cramping and pains in my shines & calves! I was about two seconds away from heading it back home when I thought of how all of you would have reacted if I told you that, so i kept on going, I walked for about 15 minutes then ran out the last half of my run! I'm so proud of myself that I didn't quit and head back home! And again, I owe that extra effort to the constant encouragement from you guys! thanks!!!

Are you stretching after your runs once your muscles are warmed up. That should certainly help the calves. Not sure what you can do about the shins though, unless just rest them.

I hope you are stretching after your long runs-that should help the calves anyway. NOt much you can do for the shins, except maybe rest them. Are you gettting enough Potassium (bananas, etc.?) Stomach cramps will probably go away with time and practice. Try not to eat a couple of hours before you go out.
