Three miles on the elliptical, then arm strength work and core work. Feeling great post-marathon. I'm not gonna slack on cross training and strength work next go'round. Though I think I&#... read more

good Boston Marathon 26.45 mi 03:39 08:16 pace

Cold, wind, and pouring rain did not bring me down! I mean, it made me FROZEN, but I fought through it and held on as tight as I could for dear life. What GOT me were those infamous Newton hills, h... read more

  4. RUN
    great 3.24 mi

Shakeout in Newburyport. Good news is I feel great and it's a beautiful morning. Bad news is Monday's forecast is rain and wind. Bahaha. ADVENTURE!

  5. RUN
    good little bits 3 mi

A mini tempo run before heading out to Boston. An easy mile followed by two miles at race pace, though I didn't quite hit it. Feeling tired. Ah, well. Next two shakeout runs will be in Boston ... read more

Just an easy one to shake out the legs from last night's massage. Everything is in working order, though my stomach's been wonky the last couple days. Ran today with 4.15.13 on my mind. L... read more

Yay! Morning run with Julia! Back out on the old farm loop like the good old days of summer. It was great to get in a morning run with Julia at least once before race day. We haven't run toget... read more

good Last long! 12.01 mi 01:48 08:57 pace

Last long run of taper! Modified it a bit. Instead of 5 miles at race pace halfway through, we opted for four miles at a hard effort. The wind was brutal, but otherwise a beautiful (and warm!) day.... read more

Ahhhhh my legs felt GREAT! This was the first run in weeks that didn't leave me wincing in the first few steps. It was so gooooooood, yay! And it was 60 degrees without a cloud in the sky. Too... read more

Thank GOODNESS. Legs felt strong again. Not perfectly awesome, but good! I modified this workout, shortened it a bit, and babied my way through it to keep it easier on my shins, but I don't ev... read more

Cut this one a little short because it was cold and damp and windy outside and because my post-massage legs felt like they were made of fragile little toothpicks. Good grief. Can my legs ever just ... read more

    good 6.08 mi 00:55 09:02 pace

I want to live in a world where I feel nothing in my shins when I run, but alas it is not here. The thing about these shins is that the problem is not debilitating. They're not getting worse. ... read more

I've taped on several body parts the past few years. It does help! But, I am willing to bet you will see improvement in the next 2 weeks. The taper is probably making you hyper aware of every little thing, too. That's what happens to me, any way!

Also think about running in compression sleeves - those have been life savers for me when my shins have been difficult!

Hooray for this! Last long one in the books, now it's all smooth sailing from here on out. Love the hard-effort incorporated into the long run - that's money right there.
