      The adventures of running. Yo Bear! - we were told to say when we turned a blind corner on trail while running at Banff a few years ago. Was this Brown or Black? Where we live we have Black generally nice little creatures but we know to keep a distance.

      It was a black bear. If it had been a grizzly and I had surprised it at that range, I would not have gotten away unscathed. Lots of black bears around here. Grizzlies generally hang out away from people in wilderness areas, but one (Ethel) did wander down the main street of the town of Lolo at 3 a.m. a few years ago, according to her radio collar No one saw her and she didn't cause any problems. So one never knows.....

    Beautiful morning, but a bit hot and I was a bit tired. Determination rather than feeling like I had wings finished this run. Dog seemed tired too.

    Good run in the cool of the morning. A little stiff after long hikes in Glacier and I think the run worked this out. Dog was SO happy.
