There is no better place to be in the winter than South Florida. Central Florida would be a close second!

Right around 7:20 this morning, I saddled up on my road bike, figuring that I’d meet up with two of my wheel mates for a slow to moderate ride. It would take me just short of 15 minutes to ride from my home to the car park, so I had ample time to take an alternate, slightly longer route to the meetup spot.

Well, there were slightly more than two riders at the meetup spot. There were seven riders, not counting myself. So at eight o’clock sharp, eight of us left the meetup spot with plans to ride in the general direction of Einstein Bros’ Bagel Shoppe in Weston, FL. Five miles into the ride, we broke off into two groups.

Thank you, Steve, for suggesting that you, Bernie and me should ride through Peace Mound Park in Weston instead of riding directly to the coffee shoppe. Peace Mound Park is one of my favorites. Its tropical splendor is unrivaled by any Broward County park.

After spending an hour at Einstein Bros’ Coffee Shoppe, sipping our coffee and chatting, all eight of us began the long trek back to the meetup spot. And how wonderful it was to finally ride with the wind at our backs.

With around six miles to go, I broke off from the group so that I could take one of my favorite slow rides along the walking/bike path that is located inside Cedarwoods Town Homes. The 1.3-mile path runs along the waterway and is home to many tropical birds of all sizes and colors.

In all, I rode 34 miles this morning. Some miles were fast and some miles were slow. I love diversity, in life and during bike rides.

Life is Good!
