agree 100%. i would run a race every weekend if i could afford it. i know i already do too much and it is a strain on my finances but i don’t want to stop.

Looking for smaller local races will probably be much cheaper, especially since local hotels won't be doubling their rates for the weekend. I have two marathons planned for this summer, and the registration fees are going to end up being $80 or $55+some volunteer time. They might not be the same experience as a New York or Chicago, but I think they can be just as positive experiences (and like the author said, they'll probably be less crowded race experiences, which I generally appreciate as well).

A marathon is a marathon, but who doesn't want to run Chicago or New York or..... How about Disney World, one I would definitely love to do. I think promoters are taking advantage of the situation, but hey, that's what capitalism is all about. With all the big sponsorships though, please don't tell me it is just about covering the cost.

Happened upon a bit o' black ice, but with some graceful skids and turns, managed to keep it on the ol' two feet. Wheew!! Hope nobody saw!
