good Impromtu Night Ride 2.5 mi

Felt like going for a ride, so I did, despite it being 10 p.m. Took the single speed road bike out. The roads around here are in complete darkness in some spots, and my little commuter LED light is... read more

good Marshall Trail Network: Power... 7 mi

Same ride as yesterday (and hopefully will become a 3-day a week ride until the snow comes).

Today I started to fade towards the end, which is the exact opposite from yesterday's ride. I have... read more

great Marshall Trail Network 7 mi

These trails are a few pedal strokes from the office I work in three days a week. This was my first time riding here, and although I tried to follow some verbal instructions, I ended up getting a b... read more

blah Lloyd's Loop in Truckee 10 mi

The trails in this area are not in the best condition, and not ideal for mountain biking (in my opinion). Very loose and dusty soil, littered with rocks. It's obvious that this area is frequen... read more

great Sawtooth Trail in Truckee 20 mi

This trail is by far my favorite in the Tahoe area, so far. This was day three of Dennis' visit. The trail is exactly the type of riding I love. Tight, twisting single track, forcing one to sh... read more

alright Tahoe Rim Trail: Spooner to K... 10 mi

Day two of Dennis' trip we headed off-road, where we both feel a bit more comfortable. We started at Spooner Summit and headed towards Kingsbury Grade. The first three miles or so is a tough c... read more

good Lake road ride w/ Dennis 30 mi

Dennis came up from San Diego to do some riding. We started his trip with a road ride on the bike paths along the North and West shores of Lake Tahoe.

    blah Lakeshore-to-28 Loop 5.1 mi 00:20 15.3mph pace

Nothing like a hill climb on a 46x16 single speed at 6700 ft. to punch you in the lungs and say, "You didn't think you were in decent shape, did you?!"

Started out a bit chilly, the... read more

great Ride to Black Bear Cafe 1.2 mi

Met the gal, her dad and dad's girlfriend at Black Bear Cafe, a great little cafe run by a woman from Sri Lanka. I love food from that part of the world.

alright Grocery store errand 1.25 mi 00:06:00 12.5mph pace

Had to make an emergency run to the grocery store to pick up some jumper cables to attempt to remedy a dead car battery.

  12. Up early to give my split commute a try. Throwing the bike in the car, driving part way and riding the rest. Looking forward to it!

I have a few friends that do that. Another way is to drive to work, use your car as a "locker" and ride the bike home. Ride in the next morning. I have a friend that does that, then just drives both ways on Friday.

Another friend of mine drives to work on Monday and leaves the car at work in case he needs to run to another site quickly. He leaves it there at work all week. If he needs a car in the evening he steals the wife's minivan. He drives the car home on friday but rides both directions all w

Well, my split commute was spoiled by a stubborn dead car battery. Car wouldn't jump, regardless of cable configuration. Then, on the last ditch effort, it did. Damn cars. They're about as frustrating as computers. I was almost three hours late for work.

    great 2.7 mi 00:15:00 10.8mph pace

After leisurely riding around all day, I decided to do a short, fairly intense circuit to get the heart pumping.
