  4. RUN
good Club run, Tettenhall area 6.8 mi 00:55 08:05 pace

A cold night but my Achilles was OK. A few twinges early on but after the first 2 or 3 miles no pain and I felt I was running well. 6.8 miles in exactly 60 minutes, including breaks to regroup. Run... read more

  5. RUN
alright Sandwell Park Farm 5.65 mi

We drove to Sandwell Valley and ran from there, a section of the route we often do as part of a long run. I managed to get brambled across the back of my calf so now it looks like I have been self ... read more

  6. RUN
good Kingsbury Water Park 9.5 mi

Up the canal from the water park, and tried out some other paths, mostly unsuccessfully because dogs not allowed. Then down the canal past the Dog & Doublet and along a muddy track over the mot... read more

  7. RUN
alright Club run, 3 parks reverse 7 mi

Compton Park, Bantock then the long way around West Park. Achilles sore early on but eased off as it warmed up and OK later.

  8. RUN
good Club run, Codsall route 6.5 mi

    OK, no Achilles probs.

  9. RUN
    good Sutton Park 4 mi

After taking Harvey to meet his new dog sitters (Diane and Chris) we took him to Sutton Park for a treat. Stuck to the tarmac paths to help my Achilles, which was OK.

Still wet underfoot on the trails in the Park - the logging/forestry work on the Sutton side up as far as aeroplane hill and towards the Jamboree stone really not helping, with plenty of mud on the roads from the heavy machinery

Yes we ran that way and got rather muddier than we expected to on what was theoretically a tarmac route!

  10. RUN
good Daw End Branch canal 8 mi

Anne picked a route to avoid too much slippy muddy and uneven stuff, in the hope that it would be better for my dodgy Achilles. It did seem to help. Arboretum/Lime Pits, along the canal and back vi... read more

When I rule the world, one of my first edicts will be 'foliage impeding any part of pavements and pathways to be kept chopped back' - twiggy trees in winter the worst culprits. As if runners haven't got enough to look out for - uneven slabs, canal bank erosion, dodgy characters inc. rapist and robbers, low lighting etc etc.

  11. RUN
    good Club run 6.8 mi

Tettenhall Road, Merridale Road, Merry Hill, Bhylls Lane, Castlecroft Road, Henwood Road. Good run, Achilles OK again.

  12. RUN
    good Club run 6.2 mi

So much better running on tarmac, and in the evening. Very cold night but I felt pretty good and led the group from the front. Tour of Tettenhall.

  13. RUN
    blah Hayhead Woods 6 mi

    Stupidly muddy, again!

  14. RUN
    blah Short LSR 9.1 mi

Very wet, muddy and slippery. Felt like hard work with all the sliding about, and not good for my dodgy achilles. Managed 9 miles but quite sore by the end of it.

  15. RUN
    alright Sutton Park 4 mi

Decided to stick to tarmac after yesterday's struggle in the mud, so we drove over to a very busy Sutton Park for a trot around the road relay course.

I thought it was busy too when I went to take the Christmas tree for recycling by Town Gate. Nice to see the park so well used although it will only have been on the roads - logging/holly clearing using machinery has made many of the tracks and trails impassable.

  16. RUN
    blah LSR 15 mi

This was a real slog for me, not helped by my left Achilles playing up again. It was sore on and off throughout, especially on any uphills, and constantly aching the last few miles. Anne had a cold... read more

  19. RUN

Impressive miles in the mud, Gwyn - no wonder you were all knackered at the end!
