  1. RUN
    good Club run 6 mi

Kees and I went with Carl's group, as there were only 2 of us. Up the 21 locks, round the ring road and back through Whitmore Reans. Not my favourite route, but felt OK.

One of my learning curves in black country dialect when I worked in Wolverhampton for some years was realising that the 'Wit Marines' that I'd had frequently referenced was in fact, Whitmore Reans. Similar troubles with 'Trysull' and 'Wightwick Bank'.

  5. RUN
    alright Chasewater 6.4 mi

Drove to Brownhills and parked by the canal so we could run up the towpath about 1.5 miles, a loop round the reservoir and back to the car. Anne's good idea, and it worked well. :)

  6. RUN
alright Sandwell Valley with Anne & H... 8.8 mi

First run for nearly 2 weeks, due to marathon duties taking up all my time. Achilles was a bit achey but not too bad. Good to get back to normal with some running at last!

  9. RUN
good Pub run, The Woodman 6 mi

Thought I had better make an effort to attend the last one of the summer as I haven't been to many! Didn't stay for a drink after though, as there was an hour wait for food so I came home... read more

I'm thinking that the compromise here is a quick half - just to show willing, like ;-) - before the scoff at home. Our club runs are full of good spirit, but lack a decent local to call 'home' - we miss something here, I feel!

You are right Hazel, good point, but I was bloody starving and there were plenty of people there so I don't think I was missed. Only about half the runners stay for a drink anyway, the rest go straight home.

At the Jamboree stone? Last time I stopped there for a desperate-dying-of-thirst drink when out running in the hot weather, I had to queue for 20 mins and endure the smell of hot donut cooking oil (for me, one of the few make-you-retch smells). Got a bottle of water so cold I couldn't drink it; then had to carry it for the rest of the run hand to hand as it made my fingers numb with the cold.
