PT reviewed my running on the TM video. Confirmed that I am a forefoot striker, but have a hitch in my stride. The hitch is with my right leg swinging slighty outside before bringing it down, so I will work on that. Nothing unusual noted with my sore left leg, so that was encouraging. They will review the video again over the weekend and I'll get more feedback next Tuesday.

The therapists have really worked over the left calf. They are really digging deep with thumbs and hands to try to break up the rest of the knot. It has shrunk, but it is still there and decided to shift away from the midcalf towards the inside. I have two sessions a week for the next two weeks, and then hopefully I will be finished with PT. Ideally, the knot will be gone also, but that remains to be seen.

At this point, I am going to try to get back on track with marathon training, but at a less intense pace. My original training plan called for runs of various intensities 5 days/week, with the long run on Saturdays, a medium long run or speed work on Mondays, speed work on Wednesdays, and easy runs on Fridays and Sundays. I think I am going to focus on building endurance the rest of the month and wait until September to reincorporate speed. I will also replace some of the easy runs with low-impact work at the gym. I am committed to running every long run, beginning tomorrow through the end of September. 65 days until race day, which leaves 51 good days before the taper!

Everything here sounds promising, Frank! I like your revised strategy for the remainder of your training. Glad you've focused on specifics and are improvising a bit on the rest.

Your plan sounds right on target. I've not done a full, but I know with halfs for me, if I stick to the long runs, I am usually OK even if the mid-week stuff falls by the way side.

Very good plan! For your first marathon, the most important thing is to get the long runs in. Pushing to get speedwork in will only risk more injury and won't really help much with the marathon anyway.

Frank, sounds like PT is going well for you and you are seeing results. That's good you are able to adjust your plan so as not to injure yourself in the weeks ahead. Good luck with your new schedule and toned-down runs!
