  1. RUN
    MacArthur Park 1.2 mi

    So much energy afterward!

  2. walk
good Lost in DTLA 5 mi

Oh hiiii. Here I am. This was supposed to be a walk for a week trial at the YMCA but I forgot my phone and got a bit lost. Which reminds me, who needs a gym anyway?

I have done a full gym workout on hotel stairs before. If the motivation is there it will happen. Way to get out there!

  3. walk
    Runyon Canyon Hike 4 mi

Where does the time go? Oh, I know. Two weeks of entertaining out of town guests! I am apparently obsessed with being a good hostess. A long morning hike at Runyon now that I'm settled back in... read more

  4. RUN
good 30 minute jaunt (Day 9) 3 mi

A nice time. I'm playing with my diet a little, too. Trying that whole "slow carb" thing. I hear it doesn't work well for women but high protein has worked well for me before, s... read more

The diet is always a bit of trial and error, tweaking things here and there until you find something that works and that you can keep up. Nice run aside from the skirt issues!

While I am a guy :), higher protein than in the past has done wonders for retaining muscle as I do longer runs and keeping fat from coming on (a problem with me with mileage). A lot of my carbs are actually coming from stuff like beans and greens nowadays. Keep it up!

  5. Woo, just registered for a Thanksgiving 5k. I'm low-key proud that this will be my third year in a row doing one. A charity Thanksgiving 5k makes so much sense to me. Looking forward to it.

  6. RUN
    Koreatown (Day 8) 6 mi

Another running/walking mix. I did little sprints when I saw a good stretch. Lots of walking though, because I really believe fitness CAN be practically effortless and that competition is a differe... read more

  7. RUN
    Koreatown (Day 7) 5 mi

First mile was 10:01. Somewhat arbitrarily, a ten-minute mile is my line in the sand. Looking forward to getting comfortable in the 9s again though. It's been too long! Really trying not to do... read more

  8. walk
    Scouting a loop (Day 6) 4.7 mi

So I guess all this walking is partly to scout out a good loop to run. Beautiful, beautiful area on Beverly Boulevard but much too crowded with school kids this time of day. Still glass to have ch... read more

  9. walk
good Building distance (Day 5) 5.1 mi

Some unexpected free time so I did a bit more than I would have otherwise. A few little sprints to try to wake those running muscles back up a bit. Some knee pain disappeared with squats, yay.

  10. walk
    good I'm back! (Day 4) 3 mi

Entertaining some unexpected out of town guests threw me off a little, but here I am! See you tomorrow.

  11. RUN
good Baby steps (Day 3) 2.07 mi

The first mile was 11:00 which was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting considering. Walked back. C25k just isn't challenging enough, I guess I'm just playing it by ear.

  12. walk
Okay then (Day 2) 2.2 mi

I know I said I wanted to focus on time but not distance, but today I did the opposite! Really just trying to get into a routine.

  13. RUN
good Getting to know the neighborh... 00:25

5:00 alternating - walk, jog, walk, jog, walk. Very toasty but it felt great to get it done and see more of the neighborhood. Going to try 30 days of just putting in the time before I think about m... read more

  14. RUN
    2 mi

    Feeling surprisingly fatigued after yoga.

  15. RUN
    Treadmill 3 mi

    Some late evening time.

  16. VELO
Easy recumbent time with TV 6.3 mi

Maybe a little too easy but it still felt good to do.

  17. RUN
    Recumbent 6 mi

A little bit of stationary time. Lots of work to do, got a double century coming up in May. Eek!

  18. RUN
    Treadmill 3 mi

Three 1 mile intervals. Trying to build back up to a consistent 6.5 pace...not quite there but not too bad.

  19. walk
good Beautiful night, 2/60 3.8 mi

Such an unseasonably warm and pleasant night! So many cyclists out in shorts. Felt great.

  20. RUN
    Drizzly evening, 1/60 2.3 mi

Surprisingly pleasant weather. I've got a 5k coming up in a little over a month, really hoping to do a PR.
