  1. RUN
    good Ugh 4 mi 00:37 09:15 pace

Really nice winter weather. Partly sunny and mid 40s. Took Zander on his bike again.

  2. RUN
good One day at a Time 4 mi 00:36 08:56 pace

Well waiting around hasn't gotten me any faster. So I figure I'll try this approach. You know... running. Will revisit this "running" thing on Saturday.

  3. RUN
good Discovery Trail 4.85 mi 00:46 09:22 pace

Car was being serviced this morning so I took my youngest and his bike with me and we covered a few miles.

  4. RUN
good Sshhh! Don't Tell Anyone 3.26 mi 00:29 08:44 pace

I told myself that once the weather was tolerable I'd do it. So I did.

  5. I am still around, although not checking DM as much since I'm not running at all. Been lifting weights exclusively for the past couple months. Hoping to start running again once the weather ch... read more

  6. RUN
good Strange Weather 4.01 mi 00:35 08:38 pace

It's almost mid-November and today it is sunny and almost 70 degrees! Wow!

  7. RUN
good Lunch Time 4 mi 00:36 09:00 pace

Time is estimated as I accidentally deleted the run before I even looked at it. No biggie. I can tell that a) I've not run in a couple weeks and b) I've been lifting a lot of weights. We&... read more

  8. RUN
good Full Frontal 4.03 mi 00:33 08:09 pace

Wind! Thankfully it was also sunny and about 62 degrees. Really nice, but man that wind was a killer. The difference in pace between miles three and four: 9:01 vs 7:34, all because of wind! 8:52, 9... read more

  9. RUN
good No Rain 4 mi 00:33 08:09 pace

Tired today. The first couple were hard to get into but I finished pretty strong with a 7:30. I've done weights twice this week so I think the squats and deadlifts have me a bit weakened.

  10. RUN
good Back At It 4 mi 00:32 08:06 pace

Got doused by the rain for most of this. Heavy showers. Otherwise it went pretty well. This week I started a(nother) new schedule for working out. I'll be running tues/thurs and maybe Saturday.

I have been feeling a bit "under the weather" and expected to run a bit slower, but getting drenched makes me move faster.

  11. RUN
good Hittin' It 4 mi 00:31 07:52 pace

I second faster than Monday total. I am enjoying this type of run. Makes me happy. 7:30, 8:30, 7:18, 8:14. Next week I start back up with a 5x5 strength program too.

  12. RUN
good Grudge Match 4 mi 00:32 07:52 pace

I felt pretty good about this. 7:30, 8:30, 7:11, 8:19. Idea was to go hard/moderate/hard/moderate. It felt a lot like I used to feel when I first started getting into running 8 or so years ago. It ... read more

  13. RUN
good Long Post Incoming... 4.01 mi 00:33 08:16 pace

The short part: the run went fine for being back out of running form. Xfit has definitely improved my short burst cardio though. Splits were 8:20, 8:57, 7:14, 8:30. I was surprised at the 7:14. I w... read more

  14. RUN
    2.25 mi 00:17 07:35 pace

Today's Xfit was a running workout. Very short. Very depressing. 5 years ago I would have crushed this in under 13 minutes. Hell a few months back I probably would have done it in under 16. Th... read more

How often do you run this workout in XFit? Do you think it really reflects your overall fitness, or just the variability of the workouts? I would bet you have gained fitness in other areas.

Yeah I have gained a bit in other areas. It's a matter of specializing vs generalizing for sure. Of course now I'm ditching the xfit because of the tendinitis in my elbow. No idea when that will heal. I'm going back to shorter distance running and basic barbell weight training a few times/week.

    good This Week so far

Still doing the Crossfit, and occasionally running. Some of the Xfit workouts are very cardio intensive, as in high intensity intervals. They're about as hard as my hardest track workouts, but... read more

  16. RUN
    good Round Lake 00:45

No way to use GPS, too much forest. So I set it on timer and just ran a rough trail, hilly 45 mins. That was nice.

  17. RUN
blah Feeling Sorry for Myself 4.04 mi 00:35 08:41 pace

Shit happens, we deal with it.

  18. RUN
alright Salmon Creek Trail 4 mi 00:36 08:54 pace

So my running is going to suffer a lot doing Crossfit. First, because the intensity makes cardio work very hard even on days off, and second because I'm just not running as much. But over all ... read more

Seems as if the goal is to be fit and healthy, you are succeeding. Hope that you are enjoying the crossfit torture, as well as the running... even if it does occasionally suck!

These workouts are all hard but today played a bit more toward one of my strengths (relatively): running! The hardest elements for me are the overhead lifting. My shoulders do not allow my arms to ... read more

    good Crossfit Intensity

I like the intensity of these workouts. I am quite aware of the limitations and potential drawbacks of Crossfit, having been critical of them myself. However, there is some good stuff in the progra... read more
