    good Wednesday 6 mi 00:50 08:21 pace

Pretty good conditions over all. I stayed at a moderate/light effort and then threw in some strides at the end. Will repeat on Friday then try to put in a solid longer run on Saturday. I hope.

    good Coolness 6 mi 00:48 07:56 pace

Cooler temps and no direct sun today. Just a hair faster than my 2016 best from a couple weeks ago. I decided during the first mile to do mile pick ups. So the splits were 8:28, 7:29, 8:27, 7:26, ... read more

    good Uneventful 6 mi 00:50 08:23 pace

No news is good news. Felt a bit sluggish but then again it was humid and warm like Monday. Maybe I can get a few weeks of 26 or more miles stacked up and see some progress.

  5. RUN
    good Expectations 6 mi 00:50 08:24 pace

I took all of last week off after Monday's 1 mile hamstring blowout. I anticipated being OK and I was right. However, I was definitely not going to set any PR today. It was not too hot at 75 d... read more

This is great news! Reason to celebrate. While a "yuck" run, it was 6 miles with only a bit of tightness...so good.

Sorry that did not end as well as it started! I am sad to hear about the hamstring. Hopefully it is just a bad cramp and you'll be back at it in a day or so.

It's a little tender still. I think a couple days off will do it. Doesn't feel like anything major.

Good news. Do you think the new shoes may have played a role or were in your old ones? Or maybe picking up the speed? Heal quick!

Also on another note, I was in need of new shoes last week and bought a pair of Nike Flex Fury shoes. They're more minimal (is that a thing?) than the relatively minimal Adizero Tempos I've been wearing the past few years. They're almost like slippers, having a stretchy upper and a cushy slipper-like sole. I was obviously concerned about transitioning but I ran Monday and today with them and holy cow they are great! I expected some soreness but nope. I'm sold.

Never give up! You won't if you don't try and what's the downside of trying?

In my case the downside is injury. :) But I'd still rather go down trying.
