  1. Just when I start making any progress the signs of injury appear. So I've taken a couple weeks off and today I'm trying some new things. I'm going to start attending a Crossfit class... read more

Sorry to hear about the signs of injury. This sounds like a great plan to stay fit and work on running more down the line. I have been sidelined too. Trying some different shoes and cut back my "mileage" (which was minimal to begin with!). Good luck with the new training!

Ah man, I was hoping you'd still be at it currently. Anyway I did workout with the Crossfit group yesterday. I've still got a bit of back strain from some bad lifting I did a couple months ago so that's going to slow me down. But overall this should be a good move for me.

Temporary set back. I'm stubborn, or stupid, or both, but I am going to run. Keep getting stronger and keep at it Aric!

You definitely have more determination than I do! I think I will still put in 18-24 miles per week even with the Crossfit. The Xfit is very intense but I think it'll peak out rather quickly because they don't do any kind of real organized training with specificity. Just lots of action and intensity.

Easy effort to finish the week. Ran with the group for most of it. Last 1/2 mile is slightly up hill, and I laid into it for a fast finish (I think I did that half mile in about 3:30).

  9. RUN
good Friday Fun 6.17 mi 00:53 08:33 pace

I wanted to stay under control today so I will have enough energy to repeat tomorrow AM. Mission successful. Very nice conditions today- sunny, not too hot, fairly cool breeze.

  10. RUN
    good Wednesday 6 mi 00:50 08:21 pace

Pretty good conditions over all. I stayed at a moderate/light effort and then threw in some strides at the end. Will repeat on Friday then try to put in a solid longer run on Saturday. I hope.

Also on another note, I was in need of new shoes last week and bought a pair of Nike Flex Fury shoes. They're more minimal (is that a thing?) than the relatively minimal Adizero Tempos I've been wearing the past few years. They're almost like slippers, having a stretchy upper and a cushy slipper-like sole. I was obviously concerned about transitioning but I ran Monday and today with them and holy cow they are great! I expected some soreness but nope. I'm sold.
