Race Reports

  • small, country setting

The course for the race was through a very small, country town. The scenes were beautiful, the attendance low and the rolling hills made the short race a little tougher than most 5k's. Since the race is still new, (2nd year) there are still some bugs that need to be worked out. Prior to the start, it was announced that the mile marks were on the course. When I crossed the finish, I never saw a single one. I asked a fellow participant and he said he saw one that shared an 8.5x11 sheet of paper with a directional arrow for the course. I believe he said it was written in pen.

Overall, the organizers were friendly, it was for a good cause and some nice raffle prizes were given away.

One of the biggest cons of the race was passing by, what i was later told, was a chicken farm. The overwhelming smell of manure made it tough to breathe, especially for someone like myself, who has a sensitive nose and allergic to a lot of smells.

This race has a lot of potential and I look forward to it growing in attendance, popularity, and overall in the coming years.
