  1. RUN
    4.33 mi 00:35 08:02 pace

5 days until the Vermont City Marathon. Slow start and fast finish. I didn't want to he moving but felt really good after the first half mile, probably because of the humidity

  2. RUN
    4.18 mi 00:35 08:25 pace

I wish I could say the pace was a little more even on this run. I started with my usual slow first mile then picked up speed and then slowed way down and a fast finish. Oh well, taper madness!

  3. RUN
    4.4 mi 00:36 08:15 pace

Now I remember why tapering sucks. This run wasn't quite a struggle but was tough while yesterday's 8 miler was almost effortless. Tapering messes with my mind and makes me feel like I ov... read more

  4. RUN
    8.21 mi 01:09 08:27 pace

Last "long run" before the VT City Marathon next weekend. Tapering this time around has been awesome. I feel so rested and all these shorter runs border effortless!

  5. RUN
    4.14 mi 00:33 07:51 pace

This puts me past 800 miles for the year so far! Felt great. Nice easy run from the bike path and around Williston. I wasn't pushing hard and still had a great pace!

Still doing great! Taking a few taper days off or streaking right up until the marathon?

I am streaking up to the marathon. My plan is to cut back mileage and run at an easy pace. I have 8 miles tomorrow then nothing over 4 until race day. The two days before I am only going to run 2 miles each day. I hope that works!

  6. RUN
    6.02 mi 00:46 07:33 pace

It was hot but I felt really good. I actually faded a little in the last mile or two probably because I started too fast and did not bring water with me. I Felt pretty good.

  7. RUN
    4.24 mi 00:32 07:34 pace

Much more even pace this morning. My slow first mile was faster then usual at about 8:20 pace an then hit about 7:30 for the rest o the run. I hope I feel this good on marathon day!

  8. RUN
    4.24 mi 00:34 07:58 pace

Felt great this morning right from the start. I don't know if it was the cool temperature but after my now customary slow first mile I averaged low 7 minutes for the last 3.2

  9. RUN
    4.1 mi 00:30 07:14 pace

Felt well rested and kind of fast today. I tried to hold back a little. I probably should not run this fast during my taper for Vermont City Marathon. Oops!

  10. RUN
    7.62 mi 01:08 08:55 pace

Couldn't decide between 7-8 miles so I split the difference on a very hilly route. Felt good!

  11. RUN
    12.08 mi 02:12 10:53 pace

Ran with my friend Jeff who is heart rate training so we took it really slow to keep our heart rate under 140. Felt great I'm convinced this is great for tapering! It was nice to have a buddy... read more

    4.28 mi 00:34 08:01 pace

Noting like a fartlet run on a warm foggy Friday morning to get the blood flowing! Put in the now routine slow 1st mile then worked in the sprints. My short had some blood on it. This is the shorte... read more

  13. RUN
    4.8 mi 00:37 07:45 pace

Awesome lunch run. This was a progression run that was on a route that I don't normally run which had a lot of hills. I felt so good and no aches to slow me down!

  14. RUN
    4.37 mi 00:37 08:21 pace

This run puts me past 750 miles for the year and we are only 1/3 of the way through it. That is about 2/3 of the miles I put in all of last year and an average of 5.8 miles per day. It was warm and... read more

  15. RUN
    4.26 mi 00:36 08:28 pace

I felt really creaky this morning and had a really slow first mile. After that I felt pretty good. It is a beautiful morning for running.

I have been trying to take every first mile slow as a warm up and my average pace has been improving because of it!

I am totally with you. The best piece of advice I've gotten came this weekend from my cousin who is training for her first Ironman and dealt with the same hip issue. She advise to not ever go fast without a good warm up. Smart running, John!!
