      Amanda - I started a 3 mile loop with friends who were already running - I would run a mile with them, then walk two on my own. I added distance as I felt comfortable - don't add too much too soon. A great resource for beginning is - they have tons of articles on how to get started.

      I agree, consistency is very important and don't go up on your mileage too much, your body needs time to adapt. I also agree outside is much better and very different than running on a TM.

      Brandy- That would be great! anything that can help me would be much appreciated. My only problem with running outdoors is that there isn't anywhere that I can really RUN outdoors unless I drive there. One of the downsides to living on a mountain is that there is no moderately flat terrain, it's all either straight up or straight down

    Same routine as last time. 10 freestyle and then alternate 5 backstroke/breaststroke inbetween. My goal is to double this by the end of the summer and go for a full hour
