great hastings/boundary 4.03 mi 00:36 08:50 pace

GREAT run! i knew before i even geared up and stepped out the door that i was ready to rock. i was supposed to go slow tonight, and i tried valiantly to hold myself back for the first mile, but it wasn't happening. so i let myself fly a little for the second mile, and then reigned it in a bit for the last 2 miles.

worthy of note: i was running down hastings, nearing boundary, and some random dude motioned to me and pointed urgently upwards. i looked up and beheld a breathtaking triple rainbow stretched across the sky amid the setting sun and lightly misting rain. ah, my heart jumped into my throat at the sight of it! i've never seen a rainbow that intense before.

splits:
9:03
8:25
8:59
8:56

i kind of can't believe that i'm comfortably hitting 8:xx splits. i've come so far! i distinctly remember when i thought 10:00 miles were fast, ha. everything just really seems to be coming together in my training in a way that never quite materialized last time around. i feel like i've hit some sort of training sweet spot over the last week, especially. i'm starting to lean out a lot more quickly and in areas that were previously stubborn as hell (i'm talking to you, thighs!), i'm suddenly recovering from hard runs incredibly quickly, my pace is obviously getting faster, and even my bad runs are technically still good ones!

just taking a moment to reflect upon how lucky i am to have a strong, healthy body that allows me to train like this. regardless of what happens on race day, it's training runs like tonight's that make it all worth it.

You've hit the training zone!!! That's pretty awesome. It's such a great feeling :) Isn't it weird to think that 10:00 used to be so difficult? Now if you do 10:00 it would probably feel like you may as well walk. Awesome progress Kyndra :)

I am impressed, seriously that's awesome! Also - seeing awesome things on your run, I think that being 'high' while running helps make small things that much more awesome, and it's also you being out 'there' - you see things that ordinarily might miss.
    Love your updates :)

so true that being in the middle of a run when you see something cool elevates that thing to "awesome" status.
