alright Chicago Tri-Run Leg 6.24 mi 01:15 12:03 pace

Not gonna lie but the run leg of the Tri was rough. As soon as I got off the bike and had to run down the hill into transition I knew my legs were spent. I also might have had too much liquid on the bike (even though I never felt not thristy after the swim on the bike) because as soon as I started running my stomach hurt and it was really hard to catch my breath. I think I cant feel my asthma so much on the bike because of the wind but I was probably already struggling and wasn't aware of it. I made a stop at the bathrooms in the first mile so from then on out, it was a struggle to get my average pace down. Took lots of walking breaks because running hurt my stomach and walking felt better (always the case). I also made a rookie mistake and didn't really think about the course all the way through. Our turn around was at 31st street so in my head I kept thinking that it was the halfway point, when really it was close to 4 miles in since we had to run the full length of the swim course to get to museum campus and the lakefront path. So on the first half down too 31st street I was really defeating thinking it was taking so long.

I wish I could have done better on the run, but it is what it is. Need to actually get some speed workouts in before Lake Geneva to remember how to push through feeling terrible on the run.

    Great job pushing through a difficult run! The run kicked my butt too. I'm guessing (hoping?) the whole pacing thing will come with practice. Congrats on your tri and good luck at Lake Geneva!
