Rode down the Custis trail, across Memorial Bridge and then around Hains Point and back. Beautiful weather. I'm enjoying the biking, but it's so different than running. It's a lot... read more

RUN

Knee feels a little more swollen than Sunday, which was kind of my goal, since I see the doc this morning... No real pain, but it's definitely not right.

RUN

Outdoors! This had several walk breaks in it (plus some red light waiting) so I'm happy it was under 12min/mile. My knee is still right on the edge of not okay, but it felt decent. The blis... read more

RUN
good 3.1 mi 00:36 11:30 pace
Treadmill again. I hate the treadmill, but it is a LOT easier on my knee than running outside. It's also easier to force myself to do walk breaks, which is how I made it this far. My knee is... read more

Treadmill at the hotel, run/walk. The elliptical trainer was broken. :(

hey, how is everything feeling these days??

Not TOO bad. Sometimes my knee feels good, sometimes not. The treadmill seems to be a lot easier on it than outdoor running, so the hotel fitness center is okay for me. But I'm still going to see the doctor on Aug 2. How are you doing? (I've been slacking on dailymile lately)

RUN

Nice Job:
Could you slow down the pace a little and see what happens?
Good job getting running again!!

Yeah, this IS me trying to slow down. :) When I start bumping up the distance I'm going to switch to a run/walk thing like I did when I first started running. I just want to do some short distances for a while and slowly go from there first. Mostly because I can't trust myself to take the walk breaks. :(

Gotcha. The pace is still super fast for me!

Well I shouldn't say that was me slowing down. I've always kind of had only three speeds: run, walk, and stop. The run speed gets faster when I'm in better shape, but I have a problem adjusting the speed. I just end up going whatever feels comfortable.

Swimming with my face in the water is a BIG obstacle for me---I'd love to do a tri but would need some training in the pool. LOL about the aqua jogging---I'd totally judge you. ; )

I've always thought I was pretty good at the breathing while swimming thing, but it's REALLY hard to get enough air while keeping all the water out. I know what I'm supposed to be doing, but it feels like I'm needing to pause mid-stroke to finish breathing in. Definitely time for lessons.

Have you ever tried aqua jogging? If you can get it right it's a really good cardio workout, though you tend to look like a major nerd while doing it!

I think I saw someone doing it today...or at least I assume that's what they were doing. Underwater it kind of looked like she was riding a bike in the deep water. I wasn't really sure how she was staying up, since I didn't see any floats. I'll go consult Dr. Google right now. :)

Good luck! I still can't help but do a double take when i see someone wearing them. I think these sports injuries should be age graded - you get less as you get older.
