My first HM.. There was hardly any rhythm..
First 10k at 80 min, 16k at 2 hours and after that it just seemed impossible to run..took 43 minutes for the last 5km..
The place was awesome though..And the run was organized very well.. I hope I can do this next year as well..
I think I should get out of the track and run on regular roads..It's much easier to run on the track and maybe lulls you into over estimating your true pace.... Found myself taking almost 7 min per km even in the early parts of the run..

Buddy - don't make your running experiene too mathematical :) You have had a fantastic experience and keep enjoying your runs.

Congrats on completing your first HM, Varun...I am sure there was a lot for you to learn, as you have explained. Just enjoy the place and the run, timings will take care of themselves over time. In case you are starting running on the roads, run on the right hand side of the road, so that you can see the oncoming traffic and accordingly run, cheers!!

Road running is the stepping stone to trail running, to run your first HM on trail is a very bold move. trails are way more difficult. Also an important input missing is the pace of your initial kms, if you run the beginning too hard you will cross your lactate threshold very early, leaving you cramped for the later part of the run.

Congraulations for your successful HM run. All of us learn with experience and you need to take corresponding actions. Consistency is the key here and also need to ensure that your run around 30 Kms per week. Try to include Tempo & Interval running. All these factors will ensure that you easily complete a Marathon in less than 2h15m.

HUGE HEARTIEST CONGRATS. very well done. learn from this experience. i competed 3, 10k races in 3years and made worst mistakes every race, the most silly mistakes in the last race to get injury.
Sure you will do great in the next one, do take in advice shared in by our experienced DMers....
