I can't get into Hardrock anymore, so giving it up....at least this year. I'm planning on running local 5k's and such most of the year. We plan on moving to Texas within a year and maybe that will reinvigorate my interest in Ultrarunning, but i don't see myself doing any more 100's. The sport has become too much with the lotteries and wait lists...not to mention entry fees going beyond what I want to pay! ;-)

Man, do I understand that! It's getting too popular for my liking. I feel like it was just changing when I got into it around 2009.....I have noticed many changes I don't like since then. I like it being more obscure. Seems like the world of marathon swimming is still that way......for now🤔
Where in TX?! Definitely some good races there!

If you like Marathon Swimming and podcasts, this one was great http://www.richroll.com/podcast/kimberley-chambers/
I'm not into marathon swimming, but love listening to stories like this one.
Many I talk to think that the sport of Ultrarunning will start to go back to the way it was. I'm glad I first ran Hardrock in 2000 when hardly anyone knew about it!
We're looking at the Tyler area. Very wet and lots of land for cheap...good running trails, too! That won't happen until we sell this one ;-)

I heard that one- she's very inspirational! I can relate to her story a bit with her bad leg. Tyler- wow. I've been through there a time or two. I can't see ultrarunning going back to being small time, I think eventually it'll be just like marathons or ironmans. I hope I'm wrong and you're right though

We'll see about where Ultras go, but I actually think you're more right. It won't matter much to me as I fade into the sunset of the sport ;-)
Yeah, Tyler, Waco, Nacgodoches, that triangle...all wetter than NH.

    Me, too! ;-)
We like it in NH and I loved it in NM (would move back in a heartbeat), but in order to retire we have to move where it makes sense financially. Texas has the least and less taxes, property is inexpensive and the bonus is Deb's huge family lives in Fort Worth, just a couple hours drive. (Plus I won't be as far from NM and CO) ;-)

Sounds like a smart plan to me! Plus TX really has a lot of good things going for it. And yeah/ you're right next door to us and Hardrock!
