I have been dreading my tempo run this week...I just really did not think I could run 3 miles at a 7:28 pace. I considered doing it on the treadmill, just to hit the times but I am not big on the treadmill so I decided to try it on the track. My race is going to be flat so I thought it would be OK to do it there. Worked like a charm. Warmed up for a mile on the trail and then hit the track. First mile was great..second mile faster and by the time I was at mile three I didn't think I keep going that fast for another mile so I decided to just base it on my HR..well in order to watch my heart rate I had to change screens so the main part on the screen was showing average pace instead of lap pace...but I didn't realize this..so I kept speeding up to try to reach my goal pace and was huffing and puffing and getting frustrated because the pace wasn't really changing it was at 7:45 well I was almost done with the mile when I realized my mistake..I changed screens and realized the pace for the mile was 7:13 woot! Cooled down for a little over a mile afterwards on the trail.
