RUN
great Lebanon Hills 7 mi 01:15 10:42 pace
Great run at Lebanon Hills. First time running out there, so I was constantly stopping to check the trail maps as I ran around the park. Trails were pretty messy, about 75% still covered in snow,... read more

RUN
great Hyland Park 5.92 mi 01:01 10:20 pace
Trails not in the greatest condition at Hyland Park... Drifting snow hiding the trail in some spots and postholes in other spots. Trails are going to be in tough condition until snow melts... Oh... read more

RUN
good 4.21 mi 00:33 07:46 pace
Tempo Run, but blew up the fourth mile and had to back off for a bit... Just couldn't quite keep the pace. Despite that, almost bested my 5k PR the last 3.2 miles.

Thanks... I am still doing minimal footwear. Still challenging in the winter to find the right shoes, but definitely more options than last year... will be even more for next winter. How's your training going?

RUN
good Hyland Park 6.17 mi 01:05 10:34 pace
Very tricky footing... Snow-packed trail had lots of post-holes and there was a lot of slipping and sliding going on...

RUN
good Mtka Trail 3.34 mi 00:26 07:51 pace
Much windier than I was expecting. Didn't bring gloves as the temps were pretty decent (25F). Should have brought them as my hands were cold from the wind the whole time.

Here's a quick rundown of my recent training and a quick book review of The 4-Hour Body if anyone's interested. http://treklightly.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-weekly-training-and-4-hour-body-book.html

Nice blog! I left a comment on your blog too. I've never used kettlebells, but I know many runners who do, and say they are great for strength training.

yeah, I'm hoping it will keep me injury free... Where in MN do you live?

I live in the Saint Cloud area. Not a lot of hills here, with the exception of Sauk Rapids, so training for trail races is a bit difficult.

great 01:30
Had a physical assessment with a personal trainer today and he showed me a lot of great exercises to build up my glutes, stretch out my hip flexors and strengthen my core. Definitely worth the time.

RUN
alright Hyland Park 5.79 mi 01:01 10:30 pace
Off day running, but still really good to get out. Snow was pretty wet and Microspikes weren't working very well as they kept slipping off my shoes, so slipped around in my MT101's instead. Went ... read more

RUN
great Hyland Park 3.25 mi 00:32 09:56 pace
Cold run! 5F with -12F wind chill. Feet never did warm up, but other than that okay. I find that I need to intake calories during the cold runs like this just to keep warm.

RUN
good Cedar Lake Trail 7.58 mi 01:09 09:04 pace
Long run on a mostly snow-packed, paved trail. I could definitely tell I've been mostly running in my MT101's lately... my calves and feet are sore from this run...
