Oh wow.. I didn't know that.. But from the way these African runners were moving, I did not see any discomfort..For that matter, there were two of them running side by side. The American runner who was in the 3rd place when I saw was far behind the race leaders and there is no way he could have beat the uninjured lead runner. If he did that, that would be a miracle of sorts, which I probably missed while cheering around the 10.5 mile mark..

I looked at the results and the first two runners looked to be African and then Michael Wardian came in third. My husband told me an american won but I think he was wrong.
