Costume races rocks! My favorite costume so far was Betsy Ross. The trickiest thing I've found is that you have to your legs free so you can open your stride. Hats / tall headboppers will be hard to keep on and will create drag. Favorite dress-up race was the Red Carpet Run: http://www.redcarpetrun.com/

Just uploaded a pic from the first and only costume race I've ever done. Photo is here: http://www.dailymile.com/people/bestieverdid/entries/12752560 We dressed up as Americana Beer Wenches for the Smuttynose Palooza Indoor Half Marathon Relay and won first place for our costumes. They were all made by my boyfriend's mother (second from the left). FYI, it is really hard to run in a fitted bodice!

  7. RUN
    good In-N-Out 6.25 mi

  15. Am I just being petty about race bling?? http://my-step-by-step.blogspot.com/2012/01/gimme-bling.html

I ran my 16th marathon in December and there was no medal and no t-shirt. It took me a bit to get over the bling complex I had developed. I still love my medals, but I suppose that race taught me that it's not about the bling, but the memories instead. Tough lesson to learn, especially if you're sentimental like me.

I think for your next race you should wear ALL of them. Then right before the start take them off and hand them to your assistant (picture a boxing champ right before his match). You'll intimidate the s^&# out of everyone. Only problem, if you don't win you may have to fake any injury.

      Good post. :)
