Yeah, this was the run that almost wasn't...rockin' a massive headache since last Monday, exhausted, and cranky I stumbled into the gym like a drunken sailor. I fought off the skinny Malibu Barbies and like a hunchback from a church, say Notre Dame, I climbed the treadmill and attempted to make it my lover. YEAH...not so much. I swear I set the TM at 9:31, but the dyslexic in me actually set it at 9:13. I made the first two miles when I couldn't even hear the music over the pounding in my head. I made 2 miles at 18:21 and then walked/ran the last mile. Oh and am I the only one who always does TM runs at 1% incline? Heard it was the only way to mimic running outdoors. Is this a lie? Have I been LIED to? Anyway - I made it. My body feels like I ran 6 miles, not 3.

Hey J, great job getting some miles in on the treddy. I've always done my runs at 1% too except that recently, I've heard from some of the local coaches that although the effort might be the same as running outside, you actually engage more climbing muscles than you would if you were running outside on a flat surface. So if you find some residual tightness/soreness/pain after running a tready run at 1%, you might be better off varying between 0%/1% just to give some of those climbing muscles a break.

I am putting my son to bed, but I hear that the 1% incline is the ONLY way to mimic outdoors. That said, I run at a 0% incline on the TM, LOL!

Friggin hilarious! Next time strap on a beer helmet before straddling your love-hate TM lover. You'll send shock-waves through Malibu Barbie and a whole lotta Ken's will be doing the Volcano for your absolute coolness factor.

Ugh, sometimes runs will get rid of my headaches, but then there are sometimes where it just makes them worse. I feel for you!
But you kicked some ass anyhow ! Nice pace !

You're such a hoot, Jenna! I've heard 1% inclines mimic natural running but I find that 0.5% is enough for me, if you have a setting like that. Go you, running 2 mi in 18:21! Rockin!
