But that last 2.2. Bit of a struggle, but I put the hammer down and persevered.

Got the long run in today instead of on Sunday so I could clear the decks for Mothers Day fun, and it turned out to be a terrific day for running. Sun wasn't too hot, and a nice breeze coming off the Pacific kept me cool on the way out. Hit the end of the park and turned eastward for a solo, reverse version of Bay to Breakers. Cut across the city until I hit Third Street, then headed to the Ferry Building.

Normally, that's a natural end point, but I still had some miles to get in, so I turned down Market Street to head home. The sidewalks in that part of the city are pretty wide, but in the more touristy areas, my Pedestrian Avoidance System got quite a workout. I was starting to get tired because I had to stop at intersections to avoid becoming a hood ornament. Sure the breather is nice, but you're reminded how much your leg muscles are stiffening up each time you stop. Finally hit the Valencia Street straightaway which brought me home tired a a little stiff, but nothing some stretching won't fix. And perhaps a nice muscle relaxant from the Napa Valley.
