  1. RUN
alright Adams Park River Loop from home 8.04 mi 01:04 08:00 pace

Nice morning run in the park, but left leg ached a bit.

  2. RUN
good Dakota Valley High School Track 5.5 mi 00:40 07:21 pace

I took a few days off for injuries and only did some bike rides, but it was time to try for some speed again. Warm-up, ½-mile repeats 3:16, 3:14, 3:15, and 3:11 with ¼-mile jogging rests, cool-down... read more

  3. RUN
good Adams Park Full Loop 9.78 mi 01:22 08:20 pace

It was a foggy morning run in Adams Park: the first half in moonlight and the second half in twilight! This was my longest run in almost three months because of my bad knee, so I took it slow. The ... read more

  4. RUN
    good Lakeshore-Derby Loop 5.15 mi 00:38 07:23 pace

I should have run this route in the other direction. I was sheltered from a tailwind on the way out but was exposed to a headwind coming back. But it was nice to have it cool for a change.

  5. RUN
good Adams Park River loop from home 8.05 mi 01:03 07:50 pace

I tried for some distance on the sore knee. It only hurt for the first two miles then settled down. It was a nice morning run in Adams Park.

Nice run. I hope the knee settles down. Do you have any races coming up?

Thanks Dave. I'm registered for the Des Moines Marathon Oct. 19th but will probably just do the half. I'm thinking of Boston in the Spring. I'll probably do a couple shorter MRR races too.

I am running the Twin Cities again this year. I should run Des Moines one of these years, I was asked at the last minute to pace it a couple years ago, but I passed on the opportunity. But it sounds like a nice race.

  6. RUN
good Deer Run loop 3.5 mi 00:25 07:09 pace

I pushed for a little bit of speed on this short morning run.

  7. RUN
    good Lakeshore-Derby Loop 5.15 mi 00:40 07:43 pace

This is my idea of a long slow run these days. :-)

  8. RUN
good Dakota Valley High School Track 3.5 mi 00:25 07:07 pace

I decided to try the knee out with some speed. I did four ½-mile repeats in 3:18, 3:14, 3:19, and 3:20 with ¼-mile rests. Not too fast, but all I could manage at this point.

  9. RUN
    good Lakeshore-Streeter loop 3.67 mi 00:27 07:28 pace

The knee treated me well after yesterday's trial run, so I cranked things up a notch this morning. The knee is feeling it, but not too badly. Still, I need to proceed cautiously.

  10. RUN
good Westshore Dr. to Adams & Sunc... 2.15 mi 00:17 08:03 pace

I've had a sore left knee (apparently pes anserine bursitis) for a couple months now. At first it didn't hurt while running, but running aggravated it. I needed a break from running anywa... read more

  11. RUN
injured Springfield, OH 1 mi 00:08:29 08:28 pace

My left knee is swollen and made running nearly impossible, but I forced it to go a mile before walking.

  12. RUN
good Westshore Dr. to Adams & Sunc... 2.15 mi 00:14:43 06:50 pace

Short final run before a week of mountaineering. The left knee was still a little sore but not too bad.

  13. RUN
alright Westshore Dr. to Adams & Sunc... 2.15 mi 00:14:56 06:56 pace

My knee flared up after my speed run a week and a half ago, so I've been biking while waiting it to heal up. It's one of those frustrating injuries that never gets too bad but doesn'... read more

great Dakota Valley High School Track 3 mi 00:22 07:25 pace

Warm-up and cool-down for speed mile.

  15. RUN
good Dakota Valley High School Track 1 mi 00:05:54 05:54 pace

I hadn't tried a speed mile in a long time and was happy to soundly beat six minutes. My knees have been giving me trouble so I've been biking more than running lately.

  16. RUN
good Heartland Trail near Park Rap... 6.14 mi 00:51 08:13 pace

I wanted to do another run while I was in an interesting new area to explore, but my legs were sore (especially my left knee and hip) from Tuesday's run. I took it slow and enjoyed it. It was ... read more

  17. RUN
    great Fargo-Moorhead 10.38 mi 01:20 07:40 pace

Nice early morning run from Fargo across the Red River into rural Minnesota. I turned around when I came to a speeding train! Very flat terrain.

  18. RUN
good Westshore Dr. to Adams & Sunc... 2.15 mi 00:14:49 06:53 pace

It's been a week since the Swan Lake Marathon, so I decided to try for a little speed. I walked on the treadmill to warm up (while reading a book) then went out for a couple miles. I gradually... read more

  20. RUN
good Swan Lake Marathon 26.22 mi 03:15 07:25 pace

Marathon #40 is in the bag! I was beat by two youngsters and came in 3rd place doing about the pace I predicted. Actually I gradually slowed from ~7 to ~8-minute miles, as usual. This was my 19th f... read more

Tim, Congrats. I am sorry that I didn't run it today, but I really doubt I could have done anything better than 3:45. It sounds like you had much better conditions than I had last year, although I am glad that last year the cruddy conditions we had kept all the fast youngsters away. Great job!
