Two notables today: 1. I'm out of shape. 2 mile warm up running to the track, then did 6 x 800's with 400 recovery. 800's at avg 2:59 and recovery at what felt like a pedestrian 7:25. 2 mile cool down run home. Gotta do more speedwork, I felt out of shape. 2. On the way to the track, I ran into another runner in the opposite direction. He stopped me to ask about the Knucklelights. Turns out he says he sees me running all over town and can see me coming from way down the street. He asked if that was me he saw a few days ago waaayy out on Hwy 22. Told him yes and told him the lights can be found at Knucklelights.com (shameless plug, but he asked).

Love it! Great track workout and all over a shameless plug... Gotta market when you can!

Um, you're out of shape? Not buying it ;). Nice 8 miles today. I have gotten asked about my Knucklelights as well. Maybe commission is in order? Enjoy the rest of your day!

Those are impressive repeats!! From where I'm sitting you're in amazing shape. I just started doing speed work about 2 weeks ago, I noticed the first week was tough but it started getting a little easier by week 2....hoping that trend continues for both of us! :)

Thanks everyone. Speedwork is very humbling. Today's 6-800's felt a little better overall than last week's 4, so I'll call that progress. Gonna make Thursday's track day from now to RnR DC on 3/17 and see if it makes a difference come race day. Month after that is Boston so I should be ready!

You know I always run in a track, and I can tell you there“s a lot of guys who run very faster they run like a rocket, but I try to stay focused on my goal I said "try" because sometime I feel the necessity to run as faster as they do... ou I am out of the theme ... #LOL anyway dont forget the track work is very very important...

Your not out of shape, you probably just haven't run that fast in awhile. Make sure you do some strides a couple of times per week on your easy days. Keep the legs sharper, then that pace won't feel too bad. Nice job Steve!

I think it's hard to feel good doing speedwork when training for a marathon and when the vast bulk of the running is way below the lactate threshold. As soon as I go to my 5K/10K pace I immediately feel way outside my comfort zone -- I can manage but I don't enjoy it, probably because like you I don't do as much as I should.

You are for sure going to be ready for Boston. I hope they are ready to batten down the hatches when you go flying through their town. Great track session today!

Um, I will take your "out of shape" pace any day!! And it takes a while to ease back into speedwork. You can't peak 365 days a year.

Hey, don't knock the pedestrian pace. For some of us, that's all we can muster! ;-) Nice job for being so "out of shape."
