The official results are not in yet for the Steelman Tri, but I can tell you this, it was not my best, not by far. Now granted, today was only my third tri, but it's no excuse.
As many of you know, the swim is by far my worst area, and needs the most help, even though I can swim no problem in a pool! I thought I was mentally ready for the swim, but wasn't. When I say I basically had a panic attack again, I'm not joking. I'm not afraid to admit it, nor will I use to stop training for tri's, especially if I want to do IM Lake Placid in 2014. I know I can over come this.
So many of you inspire me everyday, and it's that inspiration and daily support that will get me over my fear of OWS. This is not a 'have pity party for Todd' - It's not, it just me being totally honest and open about what happened in Lake Nox today.
The rest of the tri? Well, I was so pissed off at myself I basically went balls out on the bike, and felt like I had to puke the entire time. Same for the run. In fact I honestly almost stopped to puke at mile 1, but pushed through. Then came close to puking at my families feet - that would have NOT been cool!
So, it didn't kill today, and I'm going to take away from this experience a deeper determination to over come my fear of the swim.
Time to schedule some OWS swims...who's with me?!!!

First off! It is a finish! You set a goal and did it! Congrats!
Secondly, the rule I live by is to always be in a state of growth.Pushing toward the next goal! You are strong and will conquer this! I know you are not alone in this.
Great job today in pushing forward(#relentlessforwardprogress). I'm glad you didn't puke at your families feet!Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

I respect this and I'm with you on the fear of OWS. Did I tell you how it freaked me out to swim to the other (deep) end of the pool and as soon as I could see the bottom drop down I got a bit freaked? And that's IN a POOL! So anyway, I'm all ears if you find a way to get past that. You still did it too - by the way.
