Ran on path alone. It is easier to run alone because I feel like I can stop or slow down if my hamstring hurts.

I lost a 49-yr-old marathon-running friend this past year due to a clot-induced heart attack and he was an overseas traveling businessman. I think a lot of world-travel business people are over-achievers and therefore also endurance athletes. But it sure does not hurt to set your chrono for 90 minutes and walk the aircraft every time it beeps. I had not seen anything prior to this on potential risk of increased hematocrit due to plasma volume reduction from exercise dehydration.

That is pretty serious Tammy. I hear your frustration though. I don't know if there is an alternate medication. Did they give you a surgical option or did that have dangers of a clot breaking loose?

That is very serious Tammy I am an OR nurse, have they talked about putting in an IVC filter?? I know this is not what you want to hear, but I think you need to take care of yourself , first and foremost. You definitely dont want this clot to travel, you need to stay on the medicine.....

RUN
19 mi
long run in the rain. off to watch husband do Ironman WI. Very excited.

I ran the half the last two years. It was a great marathon. It is one of the best run races. The venue, Lambeau Field, is great because it can handle the crowds. There are plenty of water/food stations along the course. Crowd support is great. After the race there is live music, concessions, dancing (okay, only the kids dance). It is very family friendly. And lastly, there is free beer and brats for the participants! lol

I ran it in '09. Overall, a great experience. They start the marathon and half together and split around the 10 mile mark. Lambeau field makes for a great start/finish area. The second half of the course is more industrial, while the first half is primarily residential. Although it isn't the most scenic of races, it is well run and supported. I had the privilege of running with Roy Pirrung, a world-record ultra runner, who paced the 3:20 group flawlessly.
