great You Go Girl Half Marathon (Tacoma, WA) 13.1 mi 01:58 09:01 pace

I was not planning to run this race, but when a bib came free and my hubby changed his mind, I was game. Without a plan I tag teamed with Kim R. with the goal of a sub 2 hour half and to have FUN!! I wanted to stay close to Kerrie T. to cheer her on as she reached for an EPIC PR!!

Kim wanted to go 9:15 at the start and kick it up at the end.. It went like this:

1- 9:01
2- 8:57
3-9:29- BIG HILL
4- 9:33- Recovering from the hill, the rain picked up.
5- 8:30- Down the HILL cruisin
6- 8:58
**Our pace was right on target, we saw the 2:00pacer ZOOM past the other way, she was way ahead of pace..

About here Kim and I did a little spin move around the cone, and headed back, this is a new YGG tradition.

I knew that we needed to speed up to get a sub 2 hour, so Kim told me to switch into pacer mode. We both put on our music and got focussed.

I wanted to stay with Kim but I NEEDED to get a sub 2, it meant a lot to me on this course. I looked back at kim and gave her a thumbs up, she waved me to keep going without her. I was SAD to leave my buddy when we had come so far, but I was running out of miles and had to speed up.

My bladder was FULL and I was very uncomfortable, UGH!! Too much water! I was getting tired but I knew I needed to hang on to get my goal.

The last mile had little hills, then downhill to the Finish. The last hill was HARD, I was really ready to be done.

I cruised to the FINISH and posed for the photog. So happy with my time. It is nowhere near a PR, but I could not be happier I did what a set out to do TODAY.

Love all the ladies out there giving it their all on a Soggy soggy day.. I LOVE this race and highly recommend You Go Girl to anyone looking for a great (soggy) race :)
