Traveled to Big Sur to see Dominic M. and Ashley A. run the marathon so I asked my coach if I could run the 9-Mile race and use that as my long run for the week. I promised that I wouldn't race it and we agreed on a 7:30 pace. Happy to say that I was able to get through this week without any problems or pain. My first week back - thank goodness. Anyway, I started the race in D corral and ran with Dom and Ash for nearly a mile until the 9-milers had to detour off of PCH. I took the first mile pretty easy (10:00) and then picked it up for the remaining miles. I wasn't able to avg 7:30 because that first mile threw it all off. I could have cared less, I was feeling really comfortable and extremely happy to be running again. The views were beautiful and the hills were brutal (nothing like the marathoners experienced though) and I couldn't wait to get to the finish line so I could cheer for my friends that also included Linna and David P. Unfortunately I wasn't able to meet Linna and I hope I will have another chance for that.
I was the third F finisher and that was pretty funny - I had no idea, I wasn't trying to do anything but get my run done without any issues. I was really disappointed with the giveaway shirt (cotton) and the course was .75 short, really lame. Considering the fee was $115, I expected a little more.
Anyway, hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I look forward to a new week of training and improvement.
