The plan today was to head out to Almond, a little burg in central Wisconsin. A friend and fellow rider questioned my directions and whether aforementioned village existed. I took the long, and scenic way getting there. Fairly traffic free roads and a nice breeze had me zipping right along. But I knew that energetic feeling wouldn't last forever! I headed south out of Almond - yep, it is still there - towards Wild Rose. Again, I managed to take the longest route I could to get there. Still feeling fairly strong. The original plan had been to head back towards home on Cty. K. I tossed that to the side of the road and instead wandered over to Mt. Morris. I even felt good enough to make a short but nasty climb up the entrance at Mt. Morris Hill Park. From there the wind and hilly roads started taking their toll. That, and only two water bottles of coconut water and a couple gels. Legs were feeling beat. I put my head down and tried to ignore the wind on the last stretch of road in to town. Pretty satisfied with the miles, effort and how I felt today. Probably the last hard miles before my 12 hour duo ride at Wausau24 this Saturday. Hoping for somewhere close to the same mileage for my share of the laps.
