good news... taking it easy on the leg is a good plan. You don't want to re-injure it.

Good call! It's better to rest and heal completely than to push it and end up hurting worse!

Great news and good call on the rest. I'm doing the same - babying my knee. I would hate to reinjure it.

  8. Still resting the leg, but love seeing all the training you all are doing! Keep up your good work, everyone!!!

    • Ilona M.

Susan, taking rest when you don't exactly want to is hard to do -- but it's also the best thing to do for your injury. I had to delay my trng for a couple of weeks to rest my hip earlier this summer, and it was the best decision I made. Hope the leg bounced back w/that extra TLC you're giving it. Hang in there, Susan. We're rooting for you!

  9. Calf not feeling great, sore and tight, so not running for awhile to see how it goes. Blech!

    • Bo A.

Massage and stretching... that will help. But, go easy on the stretching... you can cause more problems with stretching than you can by not stretching.

  10. RUN
    alright beach run 5K 3.1 mi 00:42 13:26 pace

UGGHH! I actually ran this 5k 2 minutes slower than my last one!! To be considered it was 1.5 miles of dirt road, then 1.6 miles of beach at low tide. I had the choice of sandy dunes, or wet sand... read more

    • Bo A.

The beach always hit me as being a bit harder to run on and not conducive to faster times. And, truly... focus on the positives... it was likely a lovely beach run. You probably worked a bit harder than normal... and its good training for pushing to the next level.

In our area the waves don't crash, more like lapping. I thought about running along the water's edge, but it would have been mud sucking me in. It was beautiful!

  12. RUN
    great treadmill 2.5 mi 00:41 16:15 pace

walk/run, ran for 1.5 miles (20 min) no walking and walked the rest, so I sort of meshed BAA and Higdon training plans. Nice heart rate and breathing throughout,so I am pleased

    • Ilona M.

You are my twin half trng partner, Susan! ;-) Good job on the 2.5 today! Btw, what is the BAA plan? I'm doing a slightly modified Higdon plan. Good work today...esp. w/HR and breathing!
