official timings with splits from Kaveri Trail marathon now in and the analysis leaves me wondering...: from 14th overall at the 10k mark, 16th at 20k, 15th at 30k..slipped to 19th overall...lesson learnt..need to focus on retaining a more even pace once i've set a target time goal rather than feeling kicked with a faster pace in the first half...cheers all n happy running/riding/xtraining/swimming/gyming/Resting too :-)

Great performance and wonderful achievement. I completely dropped out from you after the 20 kms split :( Till the 20th km it was a minute difference. So you have been able to maintian your pace at a much better levels than others .

yep don't beat yourself up. sure, lessons to be taken from every race, but never mind the standings. main thing is you mastered a tough course. plus veteran podium right?

thanks Bala, Hemant, Anand, Milton: no not flogging or beating myself up :-) or even sweating the standings..just made an observation and noted the learning...in fact am glad I slowed down as much as I did since have recovered well and quick and now back to running close to my normal easy training speeds 'cos I didn't push too hard.

Good to see the analysis, but you have done great and enjoy that superb Podium finish. May be if you had adopted a slower pace intially, you might not have been able to pick up pace later, who knows. Enjoy this moment!

Great job Suresh! I read this recently, "In the first half of the race, don't be an idiot, and in the second half, don't be a wimp." (-; I'm gonna remember that!
