Too humid + flat tire 18.5 mi 01:35 11.7mph pace
It was hot and muggy. The traffic was backed up getting out of Seattle, so i rode the sidewalk. This means i go significantly faster than the cars... but i will miss EVERY single light.

What caused the flat? Listen to Bobby McFerrin & just enjoy the ride - don't worry, be happy :D. I noticed it was humid too... thought it was just me.

I wish i knew what caused the flat. I pulled the tire off and made about 5 passes around the inside to make sure that there was nothing in there. I inflated the flat tube beside the road... but i couldn't find the leak. (I can rarely find them without submerging the tube in water or using soap and water.)

It's better just to toss the old tube and put in a new one when you get to those cases. Also, add checking the rim and rim tape to your list if you get repeated punctures.

Why did you have a 10# CO2 canister? Most of mine are 16g.

Although it might be nice to carry enough CO2 to inflate 100s of tires... this is a food grade CO2 canister that I brought in to get retrofitted so that i can make my own soda (pop)

Sounds like a good ride! I live in the south have some friends who recently invested in the Camelbak Podium Ice bottles, I had thought about doing the same since they still had ice at the end of a 2+hr ride in 95*+ heat. Around here, this heat will stick around until nearly October, so the investment will probably be worth it. Glad to hear from another source that they actually work!

I checked my tire at 2PM and it is still full of air. I suspect it is one of a couple things:
1. PEBCAK (Problem Exists Between Chainring and K???? (I can’t think of anything bike related that starts with a K other than kickstand, and none of my bikes have those)) I may have dramatically underestimated the amount of air that is lost when connecting or disconnecting the floor pump (for the preasure guage).
2. The guage on my Serfas foor pump is not as accurate / repeatable as I had expected

It is a torn Achilles, mostly related to lower leg flexibility (actually inflexibility). I didn't crash, i didn't pop on any of the hills, i didn't bonk... I had a great ride; i just can't walk without a limp right now.
over 1 year ago • Like
On the plus side, i got "heel lift" inserts for my shoes...which reduce the strain on my Achilles while walking. But it makes me about 1/2" taller...which is fun when i am already over 15" taller than my wife.
