It was warmer and more humid than I thought with temps in the low 90's. I also left a little later that I expected to. Not only was it a bit hotter, but I hadn't eaten since last night. I had a bit of a bonk the last 6 miles. Ugh!! I pulled off in a shady spot, drank some water, squirted some water on my head and after about 5 minutes I slowly finished up the ride. Live and learn.
The ride was pretty good for the most part, but my legs were feeling the heat I think. They were very tired. Even before I left on the ride, I just didn't have a lot of energy. It could be from the miles, but I suspect it is from the excessive heat. This does tend to have a cumulative effect. I didn't really pay attention to my pace today. I know I faded badly the last 6 miles but I can't say for sure what I was riding before then. My guess is somewhere around 17mph, but that might be a bit generous. No matter, it was a good ride for the most part. And I managed to beat the t-storms!! That should help cool things off a bit and dry things out. The next couple of days should be really nice riding days!!

yeah- a bit hot today. should have gone out early early

I've gotta have ice in my water bottle when it's in the 90's. Really makes a difference in tolerating the temp. Nice pace for the heat!

Heat will get ya! I know that feeling. Way to suck it up buttercup and not call the sag, err hag. Wait you shouldn't be calling my wife..

Thanks Morey, Ethan, Lori, Ryan, Michael and Jonathan!!! @Morey, you got that right!! @Michael G., I started with as much ice as I could cram into both water bottles. 2 hours later it was still cool. @Jonathan, Yikes!! I bet your wife wouldn't come and get me in Massachusetts either!! After all I've done for ... oh wait, I haven't done anything for her!! I guess that's fair.

Thanks Tony. Yeah, I was planning on a much earlier ride. I didn't realize how late it had gotten before I finally got out there. But I survived! :-)

I'd blame the lack of food over the heat. Down here when it's real hot, I never leave home before downing many ounces of Florida orange juice and a couple handfuls of peanuts. Oh, and two cups of strong coffee. LOL

This heat is indeed a killer, but a wise man once said: "This isn't the weather to try to set PRs." ;) Great job getting out there and riding despite the weather.
