I am such a dope! I got ready for my ride this afternoon. Got dressed, filled my water bottles, and ready to roll. Shoes. Where did I put my cycling shoes? Crap!! I left them at the camp in Vermont. (I wasn't sure so I called a friend. He confirmed this for me.)

Well, I guess it's time to make lemonade out of this lemon! This is supposed to be a recovery week for me, so it won't kill me to put in some easy miles on the trainer. Getting out on the road will probably result in my riding harder than I should, at least for some of the time. The trainer will help me keep the rides easy. Still, I'd rather be riding outdoors!! :-(

You could always hijack some non clip in pedals off a non-road bike or something (I know blasphemy). Or maybe start a new trend called barefoot cycling with special socks that have toes ;-)

I like it Jeff. :-) I wonder if my mountain bike pedals would fit on my road bike. It should, right? Hmmm. I might have to give that a try tomorrow.

Sorry you left those precious shoes in Vermont. I assume you got an extra pair to use as you await for it to come back. Good ride Scott.

Bummer.... I've done that before. Nothing like getting half way to a bike race and realizing you forgot your shoes or going on vacation and forgetting your helmet at home. At least you have the mountain bike pedals.

Thanks Anthony, Petite and Jon. Today's ride was on the trainer. Hopefully tomorrow will be on the road bike with the mountain bike pedals. :-)

Scott nice job turning lemons into lemonade. Excellent spinning. Yes Scott the mountain pedals will work. I have SPD for mountain bikes on my road bike. I like the shoes because you can walk in the mountain bike shoes. I am not sure what kind of new shoes that I will get in the future for the new bike.

Thanks everyone. 2 pair of shoes does sound like the long term solution. In the mean time, I'm glad to know the MTB pedals will work. That should get me through the week. :-)

Nice spin, Scott. Sorry about the shoes, though. Good luck with getting the mountain bike pedals to work for you. You may lose style points out on the road, but at least you'll be riding outdoors. :)

Thanks Josh!! I'm not sure this fat old man gets many style points to begin with. So the question is, do I give up the few I have or say the heck with it?! I think I say the heck with it. :-)

Of course it's more fun outdoors, however if indoors works better to keep you "grounded" well it's best for now. Sorry about the shoes!
