This ride is from this past Sunday.

My legs are still looking for some relief. And the wind is still blowing but not as bad as it has been the last couple of days. I decided to ride south along the lake today. This is a hillier route, but it is very nice with little traffic. After riding a couple of miles, I saw a couple of riders ahead. I decided to push a little bit to see if I could catch them. My legs felt okay, so I pressed. This section was relatively flat so my legs were holding up okay. It turned out the riders I saw weren't moving all that fast, so I was able to pass them very quickly. Apparently they were just out for a casual ride. Nothing wrong with that!

Once I passed them I decided to try to keep up the pace. That worked fine going up some small grades and on the flats. As soon as I hit the first hill, my legs reminded me that they were interested in more recovery. Wow!! My quads were on fire in no time. I pushed as long as I could. Then I stood on the pedals and worked my way to the top of the hill. As it turned out, I had to hit each of the hills that way. But still, it was fun. And it reminded me that I still need to do more hill work. Fortunately, my upcoming Century has only about 10 miles of hills. Whew! On the up side, I did manage to hit 36.7mph coming back down one of these hills. The only problem is that there is a 90 degree right turn at the bottom. Instead of taking a plunge into Lake Champlain, I opted for the brakes. That's the great thing about riding uphill. You get to ride back down! :-)

Not very fast, but a very enjoyable ride. Another good day on the roads!
