Training of bike against an exercise cycle is different. You dont get the advantage of downhills and inertia :)

Pretty capable bike. The gear ratios are probably as good as anything out there .. Much better than the previous editions of 4300s .. Forks and Shifter/deraillures could have been better for the price ..
Do you really want to go for Hyd discs ? I have mechanical discs in my Cannondale F5, but feel that I would have been happier with a normal V brake which I had in Trek 3700.

Go for it .. I still feel that had I started with a Trek 4300 back then in 2008, I would have never thought of upgrade .. But I never had the right guidance while starting and even a 3700 appeared an over kill .. You may want to check an equiv cannondale/orbea alternatively .. Merida stopped selling their best bike - TFS 100.

Thanks for the comments. What made you feel so for the disc brakes in general ? For the Vbrakes, i am poor at aligning them. So thought a disc brake that too a hydraulic one should save me some effort along with some good braking experience.

Even in Disc brakes, once you take out the wheel, putting it back is a tricky thing due to alignment of discs .. Other than that, the discs make the bike a bit heavier .. I had shortlisted Trek 4500 for these reasons .. but then Cannondale was launched and got F5 in an introductry price .. so just went for it ..
