Okay, it was was my longest run so far, and much better than my first long treadmill run. But I am still not in love with the TM - having a good magazine, using the run/walk Galloway method, and bringing my homemade "gatorade" all helped.

All those miles on the 'mill? You're an inspiration! I can't stand more than 3. Care to share your homemade gatorade recipe?

Great job, Anna! Having a magazine there hopefully numbed out a few miles for you. I second the request for homemade gatorade. :-)

My recipe is kind of approximate, but in any case, this is to taste, since all you really need is a good balance of salt and sugar, and you may crave more of either in your own palate. You could also add drink powders or lemon/other fruit juices (so feel free to modify this :)
    1/2 tsp salt
    2-3 T sugar
    1/2 c really warm water
    - mix it well until dissolved.
    - then add 1/2 c. o.j. and fill with water and ice cubes to the top of a 16-20 oz. bottle.

Okay, here's a recipe I found online that's less salty than

    Nice run!

How do you like the Galloway method? Considering joining a training group for a 1/2 or full that follows it...

@Christina - I've only been doing this method for two long runs, but I feel good about it so far. I sort of can't totally wrap my head around the idea that this isn't shortchanging my training, or that I wouldn't run faster at the race if I ran straight through. But, I've heard that it really works for a stronger, faster finish in HMs and full Marathons, so I'm giving it a try. I think it has a real benefit of leaving me less depleted after a run, and more able to run the day following a long run. For

Great mileage on the treadmill. It can be brutal hanging on the treadmill that long... I've done to half marathons on them during training, but not like I enjoyed it. lol
And recipes... are these bachelor friendly recipes? Cuz, I'm not overly talented unless it involves a BBQ and open flame. lol

You did fantastic, I can't imagine running that far on a treadmill! I ran once on the treadmill, lasted about 10 minutes :)

@James - Haha! I hope you are showcasing your BBQ skillz this weekend. I smelled a lot of grilling on my run... And yeah, I think these recipes are bachelor-friendly! It's all approximate, if that measuring seemed, uh, complicated?? Totally saves a lot of moola to make your own drinks. Have fun with the flames! @Everyone, thanks for the props on the long-distance TMing. It's not a thrill, but it gets the job done. The SoFla heat just makes those long runs so hard - I'm hoping this is a good altern
