Ran up Whitehorse Road hill and back. A couple cars that didn't like my blinking arm band and presence on the side of the road, yet I managed ok. Saw a deer on my way back.

No offense, since you live in the area, but the more I'm around Phoenixville drivers, the more I realize that they are all assholes. I never have any problem anywhere else, but around p-ville, whether running or riding, I have problems with cars.

Seems like your original plan was pretty tight from IM to marathon, so to subtract a week from that sounds pretty daunting to me. That's a lot of traveling for that kind of experience. I'd probably treat it as a sunk cost and just rest my legs.

Tom, that's what I was thinking. I might see if CHIM can send me the swag. I can always do this another year.

Sounds prudent. Seems unrealistic that you could move the date of your IM and not impact other races on the calendar.

Personally....I think it is a disgrace!! Someone is going to lose money when an event like this gets cancelled, but most participants, even if they got a full refund will still be out of pocket anyway. I think WTC should take some responsibility and show a little respect for the athletes that make them successful! With a large % of people signing up for multiple events and then not attending all of them, all those spaces they are 'giving' you for $100 are probably already sold anyway!

What I think WTC should have done...
Offer up alternative races like they did but for no additional cost. Create a special meal or post-race party at those events for IMLT folks to show appreciation. Shower those athletes with IM merchandise. Outlays like that would help to keep athletes like you loyal to the brand. Without the extra effort, the brand suffers.

Ryan, you echo my thoughts. Prior to all of this I was pondering only doing a few Ironman brand 70.3's near me and was going to try Challenge. Up until IMLT my full and half Ironman experiences have all been good. Just disappointment that I was minutes away from doing a beautiful race course.

It should never have come down to a last minute decision... This is ridiculous.... Shame on WTC. Same as when they waited until the last minute to call off NYC Marathon after Hurricane Sandy.

I 100% agree with NYCM and know first hand from watching Philly news as I was riding out that storm that NNJ/NYC/LI was going to get massive flood damage. Enough info to make an early call. Same story here at IMLT. The way the evidence is mounting, with the pros no where to be seen and no pace signs out during my swim warm-up shows they new and played the insurance game. Tuesday is when they send the email, so all we can do is hope for the best.

Thanks Mandi. I feel for the first time Ironmen attemptees that have a much longer road to cross that finish line. Hopefully some of them can get into IMAZ. Even though it cleared up a little bit in the evening, I still wouldn't want to see the volunteers, family, friends, and others out there all day in that.
