Decided that I'd never be able to finish 13.1 unless I could keep my HR in the 80-85% range, and that I couldn't do that with any amount of running in the mix. So... today I walked. We did 8 miles in just over 2 hours, the pace was 16 min/mile and I felt good the whole time. Gotta remember where I WAS 9 months ago and how far I've come, instead of fixating on how far I have to go and beating myself up because I'm not there yet.
Note to self: remember the original goal- "Walking or running (or some combination) a half marathon before Social Security kicks in! (Nov 09)" Back then I gave myself permission to walk, but somewhere along the line I forgot that part.
So, it's to be a walking half marathon and I'll be proud to finish! And... today's miles bring my total to 188... just a few more and I'll cross the double-century line. Who'da thunk it?
