Beautiful night to run (58F with cool breeze). Kept an easy pace after a zippy first mile on fresh legs. Skipped yesterday's long run due to high heat and illness. Feeling ready to start marathon training.


Zippy? Really? I love those days when you just want to go go go. Its hard to keep to the pace you had planned. Nice discipline.

Thanks, everyone. Marathon training officially starts on Thursday for me. I'll bump up the planned miles the first few weeks based on recent workouts. Summer trips and hot weather will make following the plan a challenge... but that's what we are here for, right?

I've decided to use the smartcoach app to do my training but am modifying it to focus on HR training like I did for the Midsourh HM. Easy runs will be based on a specific HR, Tempos at another, LRS at another. Intervals will be done based on suggested pace. The program is 16 weeks which means I've got a few weeks to the official start but I'm gonna have two weeks of pre-training training.
