blah Cochran Shoals/Columns Dr 8.32 mi 01:10 08:22 pace

Couldn't get out early this morning as my wife had somewhere to be, so this run had to wait and it was getting warm by the time I got out there. Today was just one of those days that runners gut out. Was just wanting some easy aerobic miles after yesterday's tempo run, so I was hoping for 10 @8:15/mi pace but right off the bat I just knew that it wasn't happening. My legs felt heavy the whole time. Normally, they work themselves out but not today. Wanted to stop at 6 but just told myself to get 8. Pace wasn't too far off but it felt harder. Heavy legs, heat, and humidity made this rough. Splits were:8:28, 8:27, 8:15, 8:14, 8:19, 8:17, 8:23, 8:34, and 8:45/mi pace for the last .32 miles. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

I know that exact feeling, Sang! What's really scary to me is that the forecast is calling for lows at 70 and highs in the 90s for the next 10 days. I'm going to get out there just before the sun rises tomorrow. At this point, I don't want no more stinkin' heat acclimation!

@Tracy I just had lunch with my son, and now going to sit in a cold bath. Probably pull out the foam roller tonight and another easy run tomorrow! I'll just keep running easy till they feel good.

You did a great job pushing through on a tough run. As strong a runner as you are it could be a real downer to feel like that but didn't let it stop you. Great run!

Way to push through! The heat and a day post tempo probably didn't help the heavy leg situation. Still, you got it done!

Im wondering if the foam roller is the reason why you didn't get injured after ramping up your miles so much....I mean, with other reasons.......Sang why do you think you have avoided injury with all one miles? Share how you do it!!????

@Melz the one thing I do every run is wear compression socks or sleeves and the other thing I do as much as possible is to take a cold/ice bath. Especially after really long or hard workouts I will definitely do the ice bath.

    Nice Job:

Nice run on tired legs! That heat takes so much out of you. You runners in the south probably are so used to the heat that you don't realize it until you get a cold front coming through. Sounds like a tough run and you stuck with it and got it done!

Beautiful 8 miles in the heat. Way to push through Sang and get as close to your goal of 10. I did the same thing Friday evening's run. Pushed through it because they were memorable miles which you never get back.
