After spending an hour and a half on the TM, I decided to blog about it:

Sorry Sang...I am still not going to do it. I will take the soakers I get in the rain over the monotony of the mill any day. (Truth be known, I like running in the rain.)

@Steve I know there are those that just won't do it. Maybe one of these I'll try running in the rain again! I'll probably have to find someone to run with to hold me accountable!

Maybe I'll try the treadmill one day, but I absolutely love running in the rain, it's the heat that bothers me.

I'm not a fan of the rain either. I like running outside as well but I don't always have the time to do it - so the TM is a good alternative. I don't think I could do the TM for much longer than 12 miles though - only did it once to get my 12 mile LR in during a really cold day.

Nicely put Sang. The TM has it's place. I have a hard time doing steady pace runs on it b/c I'm always looking at the clock but I like it for intervals. It is also an extremely useful tool with kids when you just can't get out of the house.

I have never used a treadmill.. guess, I will die before I get on one :)

My last long-ish run was a week or so after my half, and it was 7 miles. I thought I would beat the rain, but instead, the rain started just when I started running. I was soaked to the bone, but I LOVED it! I've never run on the TM - I think I would fly off the back of it :)

Sang Great write up on the Electric Pavement I have to say I'm not a fan but it sure comes in handy to stay dry or warm. I would never buy one lol that's why I have a gym membership so they can maintenance it and have the room for it:) but it never prepares one for race day if the weather is wet:)

I actually feel myself get in a bad mood at the prospect of running on the treadmill and only use it as a last resort. Great tips on the benefits of using it though

I hate despise being trapped inside. My elliptical has a name: El Diablo. Running in the rain (sans lightening) is favorite!
@ Millicent - meeee too! I get down right pissed off.

One of the two problems I have with the treadmill is that so few of them seem to have accurate metrics. It's irritating when the pace "feels like" 7:20 but the readout shows 8:30 - or 6:00 flat. In recent memory, the only time I've spent on the dreadmill was during the Snowpocaypse of January 2011, when I ran 45 miles or so on the TM in the course of four days. Even 14 miles on the mill isn't bad as long as one has someone to talk to!

the dreadmill was the only think that kept me running this past winter when usually I would take the winter off. Absolutely hate running in frigid temps, slush and snow.

I love running in the rain! I hit the treddy for short runs when my kids are home. But either way, great job on your training!

Good for you, Sang! I think you would run anywhere...even in a big hamster wheel. You are addicted!

IT's pure torture right? But once your done with it you feel like you can conquer anything? You have a double whammy. It's "I just ran 11 miles" and it's "I did it on a freakin' treadmill!!" You feel like a superhero :)

I have done up to 18 when I was marathon training and it was icy out. We do what we have to do right?

That does sound like torture to me Sang. Way to get it done! Wherever it is!

Good reminders! I'll be hitting the mill this summer for some long runs to avoid the heat!

Have done 16 miles on the TM before. One thing got me through: GOOD MUSIC :) I do love a good run in the rain, though.
