great Long and Easy Run 10 mi 01:45 10:28 pace

Not sure if it was because I took the pressure off myself to run fast, the magically sugary homemade brownies I ate for breakfast or if it was the interesting things I saw, but today was a pretty g... read more

However, I don't think you can take any chances -- you should have brownies before the race next weekend, and possibly give some to your pacer...

Agreed. I think I should freeze some now, before I eat them all. You should save yours for after the race though because it seemed to have a laxative effect this morning (which for me, is a good thing). First time I haven't had stomach weirdness on a long run in a while.

good Easy Run 4.17 mi 00:41 09:44 pace

Not the greatest today either, but I'll keep at it. Having to stop to retie my shoes in the middle of mile 3 blew my mojo, I think. A bit stifling outside too.

And it would probably keep things more fun maybe. I know in a few weeks into HH's program I'll be missing speedwork. I have to settle for pace runs (which I guess are more or less long, slow tempo runs)

Yeah, I get really bored not doing speedwork for a few weeks. And tempo runs are my least favourite of all speedwork, so definitely wouldn't be my choice if I was only doing one thing (although I do think they are very effective).

Yeah, I walked a fair bit, but my earlier faster miles made up for it, I guess. Just don't know why my legs are so heavy and tired on these runs.

good Easy Run 3.1 mi 00:30 09:39 pace

Not that easy in the rain and wind, kept this one short in Wolseley as a result. Pace felt fine, not sure on the accuracy, since the Garmin couldn't find a satellite today (understandably).

Now that I think of it, 9:30/mile is about what I'm shooting for as a goal pace for Treherne, so this'll be a good evaluation of where I am right now.

I think I could do one more if I was in a race, but it would be pushing it. I really feel like I maxed out the pace today. The only thing that puts it up in the air is that fast middle mile. It's possible that if I stayed at a consistent 8:50, I might have been less tired, but I can't be sure. That was pretty close to full tilt for me.
