Wow I stink at swimming

Swimming for time and not distance t this point. Thinking about doing a tri in September, which means training begins now. Swimming is definitely my weak area, so any good tips on training would be appreciated. I *can* swim--it's the breathing and upper body strength I lack.


Ooh, a Tri you are brave, it's the swim part of them that put me off even thinking about them.

I have the same problem. I can swim, but that breathing in water chokes me up. lol I did discover I can swim faster on my back than I can on my side. I'm doing a Tri Sprint this weekend. 600yards in less than 24 minutes, Here I come! :)

On an encouraging note my sister tells me to breath easy. Blow all the way out and take an easy breath to get your air. I can do that for about 1 length. Other people tell me just keep working at it and you will get it. I have watched others improve. But I haven't been training enough.
