Planned 3x1 mile at 10:38/mile tempo run with 1 mile warmup and 1 mile cool down.
Warmup felt good and conserved energy for a change. Tempo started off faster than plan with 10:03 and 10:21 miles. After getting a protein fix (flying insect), 3rd mile in tempo slowed to 11:20 and I got sick to my stomach, almost throwing up. Walked a bit on last 1/4 of 4th mile and part of cool down. Started running going over Jamestown Causeway and then hit a groove over last 1/2 mile finishing with a 12:56. Really worked hard on this workout and felt good about it.
Also, it's a bit disconcerting when a car starts to follow you while traveling down a darkened street, then passes after getting on sidewalk only to slow down to a crawl while running behind it. At that point, I wasn't training anymore and felt very fleet of foot.
Start time: 4:03 AM EDT
End time: 4:58 AM EDT

LOL. Looks like only 3 of us have reported so far; nice job, Stu. Always fun to participate in this crazy stuff; that Greg is something else.

Good run man. I hate those kinds of "protein shakes" too! Once a bee flew in my mouth and stung me on the roof of the mouth! Don't recommend that either. LOL! Good job man! Keep it up!

Nice run Stu! That is so creepy that the car was following you. Glad it ended up leaving you alone.

@Brodie - when finishing a 5 mile before 5:30 is late - something must be wrong with us!

Nothing i could do but run back. I was half way into an out an back. Then went directly to the urgent care where the doc promptly said,, "Yep, you've been stung by a bee." For that, I paid $90 bucks. LOL! He gave me a superdooper antihistimine and the swelling went down, but my throat hurt for a week. Lesson? Don't talk so much when you run. LOL!

I was wondering why I keep missing your posts, you're an early bird, I'm an evening runner!!! I've tried the morning thing and just can't do it unless it is a race! I'm going to try harder when my marathon training starts in a few months!! Great job today!

Nicole, I think you have to do what works for you. I've forced myself to wake up early because of the heat and humidity. During Spring and Fall, I usually get out at 6 or 7 AM...no later though. For me, evening runs are very hard, especially if I'm on a project like this where I'm on my feet all day. You did great too!
