Well, I've been perusing DM while taking time off from running and it seems like many of you are dealing with injuries at one time or another -- so, I figured, what makes me so special!
Missed all of you on DM while out. I can not say for now how much I'm going to be running -- my doctor advised against it (oh, well); but, he encouraged me to stay active. I'm looking to buy a road bike this spring and currently researching tri bikes (any suggestions welcome).
Big shout out to Lisa C for dedicating her Napa marathon to me. Unbelievable! Inspiring!
Good to be back!

I was thinking about you again this morning James. Good to see you back.

OMG this is the first thing I saw when I logged on this morning! This one hits me right in the heart.......I (we all) are thrilled you went out for a little run, while remaining cautious!! How did the run feel?

@Jim, thanks! @Lisa, the run was fine, felt good to be out there in the morning sun. The only issue I have (and always had but didn't know why) is that my left forefoot feels numb or "sprained like" which is weird and a little unsettling, but that's it -- doesn't seem to affect my stride on smaller runs. Overall, felt great to be moving again!

Welcome back James! This is so cool. Maybe you should ask your doctor to go for a run? Shoppping for road bikes is a blast. I bought mine about five years ago. Great news James!!!

Oh yes please tell your doctor you went for a small run, and about that numb feeling.....and make sure he/she is ok with it! I hope biking is a great outlet for you if they really are not happy with you running!

Great to see you back, James! I know you felt good moving the body a bit!!

@Lisa, don't worry, I'm a cautious type! The numb feeling is there whether I'm running or not, so no worries there. The freakiest test that he did was moving my toes in different directions while I looked away -- I couldn't tell him which direction he was moving my toes in, a symptom of the spinal cord degeneration -- a message problem to the brain, not a real physical issue per se. His main worry is that I would hurt a spinal disc which would then impact my spinal cord -- so low impact recommended.

James so great to see you on here again! Road biking can be great fun and glad to hear you looking for bikes. You might also try swimming, for me it's really relaxing and very low impact. If you feel the need for an event you could find an aqua bike near you.
