I ran 2 miles before the race then ran the race. I will post the race result when I get it. I did not intend to run this to PR, it was a race that happened during a 15 mile marathon training run, why not, right? I learned several lessons as usual during my long runs. First it was a BEAUTIFUL course. I had no idea the trail system in Rochester was so extensive. I loved it! Then there were the lessons. First, running 2 miles before was awesome. I was able to shed my jacket before the race start since I was warmed up. I still chaffed in the usual spots which sucks, upper inner thighs (I did not grease there this time, grrr) and front bra band (I can't seem to get this to stop). I didn't feel either until I hit the shower after, so it didn't affect my running. I felt fine muscle wise, and I feel fine muscle wise now. I did eat enough last night, so I had enough energy to start. What surprised me, however, is I didn't gain any weight even though I ate extra food just before bedtime, strange. I had a vanilla hammer gel at around mile 6.5 of my 15. I was amazed how instantaneously I had new energy, so it worked just like it was suppose to. I didn't have another one which I NEEDED at around mile 11. It was then that my mind started thinking, "why do I like halfs again?" "I must be crazy, this isn't fun", LOL. I had enough energy to sprint the finish and get my medal. I was very happy to cross that finish and I'm very happy I ran that race. Post race they had HOT SOUP!!! plus other goodies. That was wonderful. I then drove home and had a meal and traditional bloody mary. I am so full. Yoga next then sauna. Happy Birthday to me!
